With any new build, renovation, refurbishment, or just redecoration it’s very important to have smooth walls and ceilings to work with in order to achieve a pristine finish. It is the topcoat surface of plaster that gives a wall a smooth and workable surface for decorating, and like many things; the art is in the preparation. Tape & Jointing
Dry lining walls and taping and jointing the taper edge plasterboard allows walls to be lined without the need to apply a plaster finish. The slightly tapered edges allow the joint tape to be covered with a jointing compound and left flush with the main surface of the plasterboard. The jointing compound can be applied as a smooth finish requiring only a light sanding before decorating.

The advantages of joint & taping are:

Speed and cleanliness.

Cleanliness, if sanded using a suction device, tape and jointing only uses a fraction of the material a plasterer would use. Therefore there can be less mess on the job site.

Time management plastering often requires a clear and unused workspace. However tapers and jointers can work in unison with other tradesmen and not need the space to be vacant, ultimately allowing the taping to be done at one’s convenience.
